As a youth, I ran, yet I did not exist in a sense. 19 years passed. Today, I exist in one sense because I must run. Perhaps I run to escape the futility of my existence. Perhaps not. In either case, this blog, or whatever it is, will serve to chronicle my training as a runner, my development as a man, and ultimately my demise as a human, because all things pass, fade, retreat into the horizon--and while we run, as we run, the mirage that is the shimmering, glimmering future continues to assert itself just out of reach. And yet, as this picture up above connotes, it may still be beautiful. And so the question may be what is IT? What is it? What is IT?

11.22-11.28

11.22 OFF

11.23 8 miles in 54:58.

It is difficult finding time to run when it isn't pitch black!

11.24 10 miles in 68:15

11.25 10 miles in 65:24

11.26 5 miles in early afternoon in 34:42; late afternoon--7 miles in 48:52 with first 3 miles consisting of 1 minute fast surges alternating with two minutes at a steady pace. First 3 miles were in 18:18. I then swung back past my house and ran with my oldest son for 2 miles with my youngest riding his bike. I always like to do that.

My ankle feels messed up, but other than that I feel pretty decent. Im up to 40 miles so this is a good week so far.

11.27 10 miles am in 71:49. My oldest son rode his bike with me for most of the way! 8 miles PM(52:33) Last 6 miles in 38:23. It was snowing and getting dark!

11.28 4 miles 30:30 (AM). 8 miles PM. 2.5 cool down and 2.5 warm up. In-between I did 12 by 400 meters with 60 seconds rest. My goal was 75 seconds per lap. Here are my splits. 74,73,72,72,73,72,71,71,71,71,70,69. I am very pleased with this work-out. My 10 year old son averaged 90 per lap with a minute rest for 8 laps, so we both had a great workout. My last two laps were all guts. My legs were pretty tired at that point. Heavy wind did not help either!

Overall, I am very pleased with this workout.

70 miles for the week
